OLLI-UA Anza Field Trip

October 16, 2025 / 10 AM - 12 PM
Tubac, Arizona

Secure one of the limited places by visiting this link.

This field trip to the Tubac Presidio State Historic Park will explore the life of Juan Bautista de Anza, delving into his origins and the challenges he faced as a Spanish frontier soldier in Northern New Spain, now the American Southwest. Learn about the incredible journey of nearly 250 people and 1,000 head of livestock who traveled over 1,500 miles through some of the most arid and dangerous terrain in North America to establish the Alta California outpost.

We will also hike along the Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail adjacent to the park, a mile and a half south towards Tumacácori, and then return to the Tubac Presidio. Bring plenty of water, sun protection, and any hiking gear you need.
