Editorial

Can you believe it is September already?

The summer flew by for us, even with its extreme temperatures in the Sonoran Desert and the always-welcome occasional blessing of water that is the monsoon.  I have been observing the beautiful San Cayetano mountain turn a verdant shade of green with great satisfaction.

Our most memorable event this summer was definitely our son’s first birthday and baptism in Hermosillo.

Some exciting developments have also occurred in Borderlandia over the past couple of months, including a feature in a national travel magazine and earning first place regionally in an impactful program for entrepreneurs in rural Arizona. We will share that special news with you in this edition.

I am thrilled to mention that we have officially sold out for the Basque Borderlands Trip, which will take place a year from now, in September 2026, to commemorate the historic 250th anniversary of the Anza Trail.

If you wanted to join this new Anza expedition back to its Basque origins in Spain but did not deposit in time, fret not, as we have set up a waitlist for the tour. Click here to mark your place on the list.

Finally, we are gearing up for a new season of intercultural programming, with the cool season ahead of us and the annual return of the snowbirds to the Arizona desert.

First up is the connection of cultures, heritage, artistry, and neighbors in Paquimé and Casas Grandes, Chihuahua. ¡Vengan con nosotros!

Best wishes,

Alex
