Nogales Taco Tour - Arizona Archaeological Council Fall Conference
What if you could taste the story of an entire region—one taco at a time?
Step into the heart of Nogales, Sonora, and discover the flavors, people, and traditions that have shaped northwest Mexico. On this guided culinary walk, Borderlandia takes you beyond the plate and into the history and culture of the borderlands.
Along the way, you’ll visit three local taquerías and explore how the Sea of Cortez, the Sierra Madre, migration, ranching, and faith have influenced Sonora’s distinctive taco traditions.
Three taco stops. Two miles of walking on urban streets. A delicious introduction to Sonora.
More than a food tour, this is an intercultural experience designed to help you connect with the borderlands through one of Mexico’s most beloved culinary traditions.
Come hungry and curious. You’ll leave with a full stomach—and a richer understanding of the culture, community, and stories that make Sonora unique.
Dates:
Saturday, October 3, 2026 / 10 AM - 1 PM
Includes tacos, drinks (minus alcoholic beverages), and guide services.
Starting Point: The tour begins in Nogales, AZ, USA, where we will meet before crossing into Mexico on foot. We will return to the same rendezvous location at the conclusion of the tour.
